A topical lesson for KS2 work related to Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. This is ideal for some enjoyable and informative creative writing activities around 5th November. The lesson involves exploring the events surrounding the Gunpowder Plot and then using this knowledge to write diary entries by Guy Fawkes. All of the key Gunpowder Plot information and some diary writing input is included in the teaching PowerPoint. All teaching input resources, differentiated activities (challenge task & support sheets) and planning are provided as part of the pack. The flexibility of the lesson means that I have been able to use it in Years 4 to 6, but it could also be easily adapted for younger children. When a strange old man asks Aladdin to clean the windows of his spooky mansion, our hero is given one simple warning...don’t clean the round window on the top floor. Aladdin, of course, cannot resist temptation and gives the window a quick polish; what follows, is a genie-driven chain of unfortunate events which leave Aladdin with a lot of mess to clear up. An enjoyable and easy-to-manage short story creative writing lesson with a Halloween theme. This pack is designed for teaching 1-2 English writing lessons at KS2 and is great for developing text structure, grammatical awareness and imaginative language. *Note to my previous customers: This has been adapted from my ‘Short Story Writing Lesson’. This is a PSHE lesson for New Year, which can be used in upper KS1 or KS2. The focus of the lesson is to reflect on past achievements, before attempting to set some realistic New Year targets.
